Drop Bear by loveandasandwich Drop Bear by loveandasandwich
What is a drop bear you say?
"A drop bear (or dropbear) is a fictitious Australian marsupial. Drop bears are commonly said to be unusually large, vicious, carnivorous koalas that inhabit treetops and attack their prey by dropping onto their heads from above. They are an example of local lore intended to frighten and confuse outsiders and amuse locals."

Horray!
He's about 12 inches tall, almost all handsewn!

Just because they are endangered on the east coast doesn't make them fictitious. They are still running wild in the NT. But the papers keep blaming crocodiles for the attacks.

XD. LOL drop bear. Best device made to scare people from overseas. So glad i grew up in Australia knowing they weren't real.
Have often used this to scare exchange students who have come to my school. That and telling them we had to watch out for the crocodiles in our playground :P

That is an awesome plush toy, you are incredibly talented. I love how scraggly it looks, it looks slightly deranged :D I'm from down-under, you forgot to add put Vegemite around the neck to warn off drop bears :P Defiantly one of the more fun and very confusing to foreigners myths, alongside riding kangaroos.

I would cry my eyes out if I ever saw one. I'd be like, "I've been terrified of global warming and the planet dying, but in reality I should be worried about Drop Bears!!"

Oh wait, Australia? Phew. I'm going back to global warming and pollution and car accidents and spiders.

That is adorable. I love the wide, haunted eyes and that little drip of blood!

Drop bears FTW!

Believe it or not, I actually convinced my mum that drop bears existed and were a real problem in the outback when I came back from my travels last year. The aussies taught me well :D

I had to break it to her that it was made up. If I hadn't burst out laughing she'd believe it to this day. Although I genuinely believed that a haggis was a furry little creature that lived in the highlands for a while when I was a kid, so I can't really talk :D

However, a dropbear will not attack something looking at it, so if you wear a helmet with eyes painted on the top while bush walking you will be safe from attacks :P
