“But I’m afraid of monsters under my bed!”
My mother smiled, tucked me in just so.
“Not all monsters are bad, you know..
Yes, some of them are gruff and mean,
Smelly, scary, fat and unclean,
Lumpy, scrumpy, with teeth so green,
But how many monsters have you seen?”
“A couple, a few..” I cringed and lied.
“NONE! ZERO!” my mother cried!
“There are many good monsters with deeds unseen
Like the golden haired Pook, so clever and keen
Like the long toed Beem made of mango ice cream
The laughing Lungy who glows bright green
and of course the Clib who dines with the queen!
Such lovely things hate what bad monsters do
Frightening children and smelling of poo
So they take all those monsters and guess what they make!
They mash them and bake them into one smelly cake.
They chase monsters down and cover them in sugars
But no one wants cake tasting of armpit and boogers
So the monster cakes sit just
